Jazz breaking news: Darius Brubeck, Hugh Masekela and Liane Carroll for Bristol St Georges

Pianist Darius Brubeck (pictured) brings his Kind of Brubeck tribute to the music of his late father, Dave Brubeck, to St George’s, Bristol on 7 November as part of the concert hall’s vibrant autumn programme that started on 16 October with a David Murray Quartet show.

The season continues with a duo show by Hugh Masekela and Larry Willis as part of their nationwide reunion tour on 14 November, while bassist Michael Janisch and his Anglo-American quintet Bunch of Fives perform on 21 November. Liane Carroll and band wrap the autumn season by performing al of her new album, Ballads, with an expanded line-up that includes her producer James McMillan on trumpet on 12 December.

Both the Brubeck and Janisch concerts and will take advantage of the venue’s acclaimed acoustics and play without amplification, while special after-show events presenting local talent will be featured at the last three concerts, including Moonlight Saving Time, Dakhla and the Jon Herbert Quartet.
