Jazz breaking news: Fantastic free Yamaha New Jazz Sessions covermount CD with this month’s Jazzwise

Jazzwise has joined together with Yamaha to give readers a superb free covermount CD, The Yamaha New Jazz Sessions, with the December 09/January 10 double issue, in the shops today.
The nine track CD features music from Liane Carroll, Nigel Hitchcock and Ryan Quigley together with six newly recorded tracks by the rising stars who won the Yamaha Jazz Scholarships 2009, held in conjunction with the 606 Club, the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group and Jazzwise.
Among the up and coming names featured are pianist Kit Downes with a solo track and, with their respective groups, drummer Gethin Jones, trumpeter Sam Wooster, guitarist Alex Munk and drummer Daoud Merchant. The CD will have a special launch night at the 606 Club in Chelsea on 2 December featuring many of the featured artists.
