Jazz breaking news: Jazz FM And Henry Armburg Jennings Help Spread Swinging Christmas Spirit

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Jazz FM and Scottish investment group Aberdeen Asset Management are teaming up to spread some free Christmas cheer with emerging trumpet star Henry Armburg Jennings for a series of concerts at the Exchange Square in the heart of the city of London.

Jennings is a hot name on many people’s lips as one of the most exciting young musicians on the London scene today and he’s proving his mettle appearing here with his own high calibre 18-piece big band that will also feature classy crooner Atila, the latter once tipped by the late great Sir John Dankworth as a name to “eventually end up in lights”. They’ll be drawing on jazzed up seasonal favourites ‘Let It Snow’ and ‘Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire’, as well as Rat Pack classics.

Twentysomething trumpeter Jennings brings a great amount of experience to the bandstand having studied in New York with the likes of Joe Magnarelli, Jeremy Pelt and John Swana, as well as sideman work with UK luminaries Dame Cleo Laine, Sir John Dankworth and Peter King. His debut album Out Of the Starting Blocks was well received when it was released last year. Catch his band at lunchtime between 12noon-2pm or evening 5.45pm-7.45pm on 13 – 15 December at Exchange Square, London EC2A.
