Thursday, April 25, 2013
The major European jazz trade show and new artist showcase, Jazzahead!, gets under way from Thursday 25 April until Sunday 28 April in the Exhibition and Congress Centre in Bremen, Germany.
Jazzahead! has grown in stature since it launched in 2006 and is now the premier one-stop networking shop for all things jazz, including a fantastic opportunity to see some of the hottest rising stars on the European scene.
This year the trade show has over 590 exhibitors from 33 countries, including record labels, venues, national jazz organisations, festivals and promoters from 31 countries. Last year it showcased over 70 concerts and attracted more than 7,000 visitors, including over 2,250 professional participants, many of whom are musicians, with the 2013 event already looking likely to outstrip these statistics.
Israel is the partner country for 2013 and will present showcase concerts featuring Omer Klein Trio and Avishai Cohen, while the annual German Jazz Expo showcase features Eric Schaefer and the Shredz and the Olivia Trummer Trio among others. This year’s European Jazz Meeting includes the UK’s Beats & Pieces Big Band, Django Bates’ Belovèd and Zoe Rahman; Norway’s Helge Lien Trio; Turkey’s Taksim Trio and other rising European names, while a vibrant club programme goes on until the early hours. Bremen is easily accessed from Stansted airport on budget flights and the city has many affordable hotels and a picturesque old town making it an ideal destination for jazz fans during Jazzahead! So what are you waiting for?
