Jazz breaking news: Kairos 4tet and James Morrison for Southport Jazz Festival

Thursday, April 4, 2013

Jazz returns to Merseyside in May when the Southport Jazz Festival opens its doors at The Atkinson multi-artform venue from 10-12 May with a programme that combines cutting edge with established names, including rising stars Kairos 4tet (pictured left) and virtuoso multi-instrumentalist James Morrison.

First held in 2001, the festival is a joint initiative presented by Sefton Arts & Cultural Services and Sefton Tourism with the main concerts at The Atkinson, a free stage Jazz Festival Village in the Town Hall gardens and a fringe festival in the towns bars and clubs that will run alongside a real ale beer festival.

Dates include: Nicola Farnon Quartet, James Morton’s Pork Chop, the Al Wood Nine (10 May); GoGo Penguin, the Bateman Brothers featuring Enrico Tomasso, Sector 7 and Gabby Young and the Other Animals (11 May); Kairos 4tet, Joe Stilgoe Trio, James Morrison with Swingshift Big Band and Milestones (12 May).

The free stage and fringe programme as well as ticket booking details are online at www.seftonarts.co.uk
