Jazz breaking news: Liam Noble takes Brother Face on tour

Pianist and composer Liam Noble’s brand new band Brother Face have announced a series of autumn concerts, beginning 20 September.

The group’s exciting line-up expands on Noble’s longstanding trio with bassist Dave Whitford and drummer Dave Wickins, with the addition of the innovative Chris Batchelor on trumpet and acclaimed Shabaka Hutchings on tenor saxophone and clarinet.

The quintet will play original compositions that explore a path between the realms of Tin Pan Alley and the avant garde and were written by a leader noted for his diverse range of influences as well as for his supreme improvising skills.

The 2013 tour dates begin on 20 September at Wakefield Sports Club, Wakefield, and continue at: Fleece Jazz, Colchester (27 Sept); Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham (8 Oct); Hive Theatre, Shrewsbury (12 October); Millennium Hall, Sheffield (18 Oct); The Verdict, Brighton (7 Nov) and The Vortex, London (8 Nov).
