Jazz breaking news: London Meets New York At The Vortex

Dalston may have not quite seen the likes of it but with the clock ticking steadily more loudly to the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra residency at the Barbican later this month, the Vortex, partner club for the concert hall programme, is hosting a special complementary British Jazz Generations series of double bills over three nights plus late night-jams featuring guests from JALC.
The programme is: Thursday 17 June Paul Dunmall Trio and Golden Age of Steam double bill plus jam session starting at 10.30pm featuring Abram Wilson Quartet with JALC guests trombonist Elliot Mason and trumpeter Ryan Kisor.
Friday 18 June Stan Tracey Trio and Zoe Rahman Trio double bill plus jam session starting at 10.30pm featuring the Denys Baptiste Quartet with JALC guests alto saxophonist Sherman Irby and trumpeter Kenny Rampton.
Saturday 19 June Still Waters and Fringe Magnetic double bill plus jam session starting at 10.30pm featuring the Rhythmica rhythm section and Tomorrow's Warriors plus JALC guests trumpeter Marcus Printup and trombonist Chris Crenshaw.
