Taking place for the first time at The Forge in Camden, the festival includes an evening dedicated to the European Jazz-collective-gathering dubbed ZOOM night, the launch of three new records by Loop artists, a new compilation and movie projection as well as the performance of especially commissioned new music by Loop bands.
Bassist Mick Coady opens this year with a quartet, featuring pianist Ivo Neame (pictured), tenor saxophonist Michael Buckley and drummer Sean Carpio. This performance sees the debut of a number of Coady’s new works, a fitting preparation for his first recording as leader later this year, as awarded to him under the Music Network Recording Scheme. Duo Plus will close the festival, which sees multi-instrumentalists and once again Loop Collective founding members Jim Hart and Ivo Neame continuing and broadening nearly a decade of collaborations. Duo Plus will feature trumpeter Rory Simmons, returning again to the Loop festival, and tuba virtuoso Oren Marshall.
The confirmed programme is: Festival Opening – Mick Coady Quartet; Jeanne Added; MA special; (16 Mar); Zoom Night – Kindergarten, Arthurs.Høiby.Richie, Fringe Magnetic special (17 Mar); Projection of the silent film Sunrise; Risser / Duboc / Perraud trio; Andrew Plummer’s World Sanguine Report (18 Mar); album launch night recorded by BBC Radio 3; Mirror; Hanslip / Carmona duo; Splice; Jim Hart / Ivo Neame Duo Plus with guests (19 Mar).
