Though relatively unknown in the UK, he comes to the Dean Street club as part of his "Foreign Matters" tour organised by Bolygó Music, aiming to raise his profile in Europe with the help of the Grammy-winning Brecker.
Originally from Budapest, Horvath moved to the U.S. in 1983 to study at Berklee College of Music. He has since worked with top names including Joe Henderson, Ernie Watts, Bobby Hutcherson and Aretha Franklin. With Brecker out front, Horvath also brings a formidable rhythm section: Liberian-German electric bassist Eckhardt built his reputation playing with John McLaughlin, Billy Cobham and Garaj Mahal, while U.S. drummer Rickman is best known for his work with Steve Coleman's Five Elements band between 1996 and 2002. The band will mix bop elements with funk and Latin rhythms.
