Jazz breaking news: Photographer William Ellis unveils his latest exhibition

Monday, April 19, 2010

London’s Rockarchive gallery is to play host to British photographer William Ellis’ latest collection entitled Mavericks.

Widely regarded as an important presence in jazz photography, Ellis’ recent exhibitions have toured the world including shows in Bremen, Glasgow, Hong Kong, Havana and New York.

As a stylish documenter of the contemporary jazz scene in Africa, East Asia, Europe and The Americas, Ellis had the honour to be invited to produce the 2005 Inaugural International Exhibition at the American Jazz Museum in Kansas. Closer to home, Ellis is the man behind the shot of Empirical which featured on the cover of last year’s October edition of Jazzwise.

Rockarchive’s rotating collection features choice shots of Rock’n’Roll legends including The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Stones and Blondie, with Ellis’ upcoming show being the first jazz show seen at their Islington site. Mavericks runs between 22 April and 4 May at Rockarchive, 110 Islington High Street.
