Jazz breaking news: Ronnie Scott’s Radio Show For Jazz FM

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Following the latest set of RAJAR official listening figures that saw Jazz FM’s audience share increase over the previous audited period the DAB radio station has just announced the launch of a new weekly series, the Ronnie Scott’s Radio Show, which begins on 3 June.

Presented by Jumoké Fashola, the jazz singer and broadcaster who has hosted BBC London’s Late Show and presented a number of radio shows at the club during its Brit-Jazz weeks, the show will broadcast every Friday from 10-11pm and will feature music from artists that have played the club during its 51 year history as well as interviews and tracks from the club’s archive of in-house recordings.

The first programme will feature interviews with Dee Dee Bridgewater and Madeleine Bell as well as tracks from Cannonball Adderley, Kurt Elling and Quincy Jones plus a regular slot, ‘Classic ‘59’, celebrating one of jazz’s landmark years. Future guests will include Kyle Eastwood, Ron Carter, Joe Lovano and Pharoah Sanders.

“Ronnie Scott’s is really pleased to be able to bring its unique radio show to Jazz FM, especially at a time when the station is going from strength to strength” says Ronnie Scott’s Managing Director, Simon Cooke. “Our show will give a sense of the atmosphere and culture that we have here at this wonderful live music venue”. Jazz FM is now broadcast nationwide on DAB, Sky Digital and Freesat and globally at www.jazzfm.com
