Jazz breaking news: Stuart McCallum, Richard Iles and Norma Winstone For Manchester

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

This year’s Manchester Jazz Festival has a typically tightly focused programme with a strong local element as well as some high profile visitors.

Taking place from 22-30 July MJF this year will include a special commission from pianist Adam Fairhall, the launch of new album Distilled by Cinematic Orchestra guitarist Stuart McCallum joined by a 15-piece ensemble, an appearance by Richard Iles’ Miniature Brass Emporium featuring Iain Ballamy, and the Winstone-Venier-Gesing trio.

Also look out for Al Jarreau, Tony Kofi, the John Ellis Big Bang concert, an Edition records double bill of Marius Neset and Dave Stapleton, and concerts by French pianist Benjamin Moussay and Spanish combo La Orquesta Jamalandruki.
