Jazz breaking news: Trio time for Broadbent on brace of UK gigs

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

The Alan Broadbent Trio make a rare trip to the UK this month with gigs at the Watermill Jazz Club in Dorking on 12 April, and the Bull’s Head, in the London suburb of Barnes on 14 April.

Broadbent (pictured), a distinguished pianist, arranger and composer, as well as his own classy records memorably played piano in Charlie Haden’s noir-ish Quartet West. He also accompanied Paul McCartney at the Grammys earlier this year. Broadbent is joined by bassist Philipp Steen and drummer Kai Bussenius. – Stephen Graham
