Tuesday, May 26, 2009

This year’s BBC Proms running from 17 July-12 September feature pianist Stan Tracey performing big band suite 'Genesis' in a late-night prom on Saturday 18 July.

Also earlier that day in the afternoon at the Royal Geographic Society there is a free screening of the film about Tracey’s life, Stan Tracey: The Godfather of British Jazz.

Also booked are trumpeter Tom Arthurs, and pianist Gwilym Simcock, both who are due to play the Cadogan Hall on 31 August in a bill featuring Gwilym Simcock’s ‘Contours’ and the world premiere of Arthurs’ 'And Distant Shore', specially commissioned by the BBC and the Royal Philharmonic Society.
