Terry studied music at the University of Sussex and gained a year’s scholarship to study jazz at the Eastman School of Music, New York.
His performing career started in 1985 touring Europe and the Middle East with US jazz singer Joe Lee Wilson. Terry is a central figure on the lively Brighton jazz scene, performing with a variety of ensembles and with both UK and US jazz artists. He has contributed pieces to the ABRSM jazz grades for piano and to the Trinity/Rock School Popular Piano graded exam pieces. He leads the renowned Latin jazz group Cubana Bop. The group has been hailed as "one of Europe's top latin bands" (Dave Gelly, theObserver) with its latest CD 'Now Hear This!'
