The Write Way Up

Tuesday, September 13, 2005

The new writers' initiative, The Write Stuff, returns to the London Jazz Festival for its third year running following the success of the past two courses.

Aimed at amateur and semi-professional writers interested in jazz and jazz-related music, this year's free programme of workshops and seminars will give eight people the opportunity to work with professional journalists and editors from Jazzwise, The Guardian and Echoes to develop an understanding of jazz criticism, to improve their writing skills and gain an inside knowledge of the jazz and music press. Held in association with BBC Radio 3, Serious, the Southbank Centre and Jazzwise, the workshops run for a series of late afternoon and evening sessions and a

concert during the festival. Applications are now invited for those interested in taking part. Please send a 500 word review of a live music performance, together with a CV and a covering letter explaining why you would benefit from this opportunity to dianen@serious.org.uk by 3 October 2005. For further details phone Diane Ngo on 020 7405 9900.
