Tomorrow's Warriors plans new big band

One of the most active and vibrant jazz education organisations on the London scene has just announced some new projects to bolster its existing work.
Tomorrow's Warriors, which was set up originally to further the work of new generations of UK black jazz musicians inspired by the example of the 80s big band the Jazz Warriors is now about to launch a set of intensive workshops for aspiring young jazz musicians. Called Move On Up with financial backing from the Clore-Duffield Foundation the workshops are aimed at musicians with grade five under their belts who can then join sessions led by members of Jazz Jamaica and artists from Dune Records. There will be special sessions for rhythm section, and also ensemble classes, bringing together participants to study approaches to large and small group playing and leadership. They will take place at The Premises, 201-205 Hackney Road, London E2. Tomorrow's Warriors is also planning a new jam session at Stratford Circus hosted by trumpeter Abram Wilson and a Tomorrow's Warriors band The organisation has also announce plans to develop a Tomorrow's Warriors Big Band, a new flagship ensemble.
