Where can I buy Transcribe? You can purchase the latest version of Transcribe! for PC or Mac either -as a software download from Seventh String or the software on CD-Rom from Jazzwise.

INSTALLATION FAQs

Do I have to be online to register ?

No. The software has it's own registration process which runs automatically when you install the software. If you need to find your registration key, it is saved on the software CD as registration.txt

Where is my registration key ?

On the CD as a small text file called 'registration.txt'

USING TRANSCRIBE!

Can I just put a CD in the drive and open the track directly from Transcribe ?

Yes, all common audio formats (.cda, .wav, .mp3) are supported. However, not the M4A format associated with Apple iPod, although this can be coverted in iTunes to MP3 anyway.

Is there a way around this?

Using the built in Sound Recorder, you can capture the audio via the sound card and work on it. The resulting sound file can be saved as a .wav or .aiff. This also applies to the M4A format associated with Apple iPod, although this can be coverted in iTunes to MP3 anyway.

Why can't I delete the red triangle ?

This is the main pointer that you can't delete because it shows you where you are in the sound file and it helps you position markers, where to play from etc.

Can I burn from Transcribe directly to CD ?

No. You'd need to Save the soundwave as a .wav or other supported audio format and then use CD Copy/Burner software.

It doesn't record any sound when I do this!

Ah - the Volume control hasn't been set correctly. Firstly, if you haven't got the Volume Icon displayed bottom right, click:Start->Settings->Control Panel->Sound & Audio Devices - place tick in the box 'Place Volume Icon in the taskbar'.

Next, double click this icon to open the Volume Control panel, click Options->Properties->Recording and tick the CD Player and Wave Out Mix. Click Ok. Tick in Select under Wave Out Mix column. Slide the volume up to the 3rd notch. Close.

I can't hear anything when I click play

Many reasons - but make sure your Volume Control is set correctly.Double click the Volume Icon bottom right (see above for instructions on how to get this if you can't see it) and make sure the volume sliders are up to at least the 3rd of 4th notches. Remove any ticks in the Mute boxes. Close.
