Frank McComb profile

Vocalist Frank McComb is one of neo-soul’s most stunning voices, think Donny Hathaway with Herbie Hancock keyboard skills.
Always gaining a rapturous reception when performing live, he can also boast an audience that sings perfect three-part harmonies, his gigs are very much for soul-jazz connoisseurs. First coming to wide attention through his appearance on Branford Marsalis’ groundbreaking and controversial Buckshot LeFonque albums circa 1995, McComb’s soul jazz-infused vocals and heartfelt lyrics created the angst-ridden anthem ‘Another Day’ (sounding not a million miles from the soul ‘n’ funk of today’s Gnarls Barkly). While he remains a singer’s singer, with a worldwide cult following, he’s also suffered at the hands of major label deals gone sour, now releasing records himself; yet live he still sends shivers as he combines his deft keyboard skills and very sophisticated songs with his honeyed-gravel soul; he’s the real deal live.
