Following (albeit under their own steam) in the weighty, industrial strength beauty of fellow Norwegian trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer’s electronica driven jazz sound, Generator X promise a similar assault of both soaring melodic ideas versus the controlled chaos of live sampling and broken beats.
Lead by the distinct dialogue between drummer Audun Kleive and rising trumpet star Arve Henriksen, the remaining trio of Christian Wallomrød (keys), Ståle Storløkken (keys and electronics) and Jan Bang (live sampling) this quintet represent further proof of the edgy wit and wisdom of the burgeoning Norwegian jazz scene, creating an imaginative hybrid between the organic and the synthesized.
