Ko (The Bradley Webb Trio)

Thursday, November 30, 2006

Teenage drumming sensation Bradley Webb and his equally young, and equally prodigious cohorts of five string electric bassist Pete Cochrane and keyboardist Sam Beste, are teetering on the edge of greatness, especially after just completing the JAZ scholarship under the tutelage of no less than Herbie Hancock and Christian McBride, with fans ranging from Amy Winehouse to Jamie Cullum and Gilad Atzmon.

Already possessing authoritative chops beyond their years, this is a band that is maturing fast as they hop merrily between such stalwart standards as ‘Solar’, to grinding deep funk of Webb originals like ‘Shut It’. With more recording sessions booked an album may well be imminent but don’t expect these super talented teens to be copying the clichés of a million other bass/drum/piano trios – these boys are heading to the top on their terms.
