A German super-session mixing Mouzon's touring band of the time (Vitous, Malik and Goldberg) with continental acolytes, notably a young but already sensational Catherine. Mouzon and Vitous were still flush from their days with Weather Report and Miles, so there are understandable echoes of the grandmasters of what will forever be named ‘fusion’. That said, the stand outs are the cuts fleshed out by Catherine and Kuhn, notably ‘Electric Moon’, a more structured piece with a haunting theme, dreamy sax, eerie keyboard colours and, of course, a searching solo from the guitar man. Catherine is even more spectacular if less satisfying on the rock-drenched title track. Elsewhere Vitous' scratchy bowed bass illuminates ‘The Light’ while ‘Nightmare’ features a speed of light drum break that is fleet even by Mouzon's standards. You'll find more satisfying material for all these artistes elsewhere, but for energy alone, fans will enjoy this ageing run out.
