Zaitz flows across the frets with such fluency that it’s almost too easy to file his debut under ‘fun’ but maybe a little light. But there’s also a sound technique and a sense of soul in his playing. With his clean lines, Grant Green influence and eschewing of pedals we seem to have a classic guitar-organ set up. And in Ross Stanley on Hammond who is better to summon the spirit of a Jimmy Smith or more boppish Richard ‘Groove’ Holmes?

But The Regulator is far from a slavish copy of the classic trio vibe. Zaitz, a richly chordal player, also has his own voice whether on the brightly singing blues chase of ‘Some Extent’, or the soul groove balladeering of Dizzy’s ‘Con Alma’.

Dave Pattman’s congas also bring the edge of something different, a little Latin flavouring when required, or a richer patterning to cut through those fat organ chords. It’s all best captured by the closing ‘The Regulator’ penned by Mark Kavuma, Banger Records boss. With it’s oh-so-cool voiced intro, some joyously ‘out’ moments and a keen sense of dance, this is no chitlin’ circuit homage: this is the sound of a confident, even brash modern UK. Bangin’ indeed.
