Just another chop-'em-out-cheap (half) day at the office for Kessel and friends on 10 selections all of which, save for the ubiquitous ‘One Note Samba’, clock in at well under four minutes a pop and amounts to a total playing time of 31 minutes. Barney's undisputed talents are of infinite more value than this Country Club lounge bar music that includes ‘Blues In The Night’, ‘Days Of Wine And Roses’, ‘The Peanut Vendor’ and Tadd Dameron's ‘Lady Bird’. Sure, it's all professionally performed but considering the lineup it reveals little character.
