Beledo has the kind of virtuosic multi-instrumental skills that leave lesser mortals aghast: so lucky he has in Goines and Husband peers who can match him blow for spectacular blow. The Uruguayan has 20-years experience in the prog/fusion world and he’s drawn all the classic sounds together: the opening ‘Mechanism’ with its violin and long-lined opening figure reeks Mahavishnu; Tribal Tech (Beledo’s collaborated with Gary Willis previously) underwrites the tight rock of ‘Big Brother Calling’, while Corea’s latin side invests the epic soundscape of ‘Marilyn’s Escapade’, with Beledo now laying down luscious piano. Indeed, Beledo’s piano could have been heard more of. So all splendid stuff, splendidly played, with Husband furiously giving as ever, but you do hanker for fresh voicings, for a tang of something different, even if clumsy and smeared. Somehow the dream is just too mechanical.
