As Auger delivers one of his magnificently mangled Germanglish intros, daughter Savannah turns her back on him with a splendid ‘Oh, Dad, you’re so embarrassing’ grimace. It’s a moment only DVDs can capture, and indeed the video production is fabulous; great colour, excellent camerawork and Savannah is rightly in the spotlight (even if the director favours salacious leg shots.) Funny that: there are no money shots of Auger’s generous tummy.

Either way, it’s all great fun with Augur and band tight and juicy as they rattle through a greatest hits repertoire. ‘Season of the Witch’, ‘Road to Cairo’ and ‘This Wheel’s on Fire’ get straight ahead treatments, with the then 72-year-old but ever-ebullient Augur relishing his Jimmy Smith thang.

There are inevitable comparisons between Savannah and Julie Driscoll/Tippetts, but the former is much more Los Angeles showbiz, as befits her hometown, rather than 1960s psychedelia. Savannah has a good soulful vocal reach, although both she and Driscoll share that palms up and out, hip sway dancing on the spot thang. No surprise then that the west coast rock of ‘Light My Fire’ gets a particularly sensual cover. While King and Karma hold it rock steady beneath Auger’s hot stew, Savannah remains cooly above it all. Except for those oops, that’s awkward, Dad moments.
