Crown was a West Coast budget label that leased its repertoire from Dick Bock's Pacific Jazz catalogue: being a random mixture of original masters and out-takes. Five of the six tracks on Mis'ter Chet's selection were originally heard on the much longer …And Crew album while track four (‘The Route’) was taken from album of the same name which had Chet sharing the front line with Pepper and Kamuca. However, the accompanying notes incorrectly attributes bass player Leroy Vinnegar as being on drums while drummer Stan Levey is listed as pianist leaving pianist Pete Jolly earmarked as playing alto sax! There's nothing at all amiss with the actual performance on this fine sounding remastered release, just that it's easily available elsewhere in its much longer complete form.
