Clarinet virtuoso Chris Speed makes a bold statement with an album of him playing completely solo. This ultra-minimalist approach isn't as challenging as you might think, as everything's kept short and sweet, and Speed draws upon luminaries such as Trane and Dolphy and his own compositions are strong. And anyway, who doesn't love the sound of a clarinet?
