Construction is British drummer Jim Bashford's band, named after the full-time job he took while originally studying music before going on to the jazz course at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Construction draws from both prog and the experimental rock-angled side of New York jazz. The line-up includes the ex-London-based French saxophonist/clarinettist Robin Fincker, a student of reeds players such as Chris Speed, Tim Berne and Ellery Eskelin, and the Norwegian guitarist Hilmar Jensson who was a former guest of Outhouse, Fincker's erstwhile band and one of the key flagbearers of North London's LOOP Collective.

Bass and drums are steamin’ raw throughout, with ex-Bill Bruford Earthworks/Steeleye Span bassist Tim Harries’ grungy bass and Bashford's crackling drum sound.

All compositions are the drummer's with the only exception being Bashford's In A Silent Way-like interpretation of Gong's swirlingly impressionistic synth-prog anthem ‘The Octave Doctors and the Crystal Machine’.
