Darrell Katz is the long-time composer-leader of the Jazz Composer's Alliance (JCA) and, in spite of an attempt at no-messin' lyrics (“Donald Trump is a vicious punk with a big mouth full of lies”) swung by vocalist Rebecca Shrimpton, this is a gracious yet dynamic selection of works for violin, marimba and jazz orchestra, blending a third stream, multi-faceted swing-to-fusion big band and more leftfield sensibilities.
