This is the kind of cheap CD you’ll find on street market stalls or in cut price book shops. It comes with no information as to when the tracks were recorded or who the participants are. All that is revealed is that Anita O’Day, Roy Eldridge, Johnny Desmond, etc sing on half of this material and that’s it. My guess is that they’ve just harvested material from mainly already available sources and quickly stitched them together. By and large there’s no quibble about some of the actual performances, just the shoddy way in which it’s presented. This extends to reprinting a Wikipedia entry on Gene Krupa as a sleeve note in which you’ll be thrilled to learn that rock drummer Peter Criss (Kiss) and Jerry Nolan (New York Dolls) once took tuition from the great man. Er, that’s it!
