Oh dear, I do believe we've been here on at least two previous occasions. In much the same way as the artificial blend of faux Polynesian Tiki cocktail lounge music as popularised by Arthur Lyman and Martin Denny, the fact remains Mis'tah Mann's ascendency through the ranks coincided with a time when the sound of flute, vibes and congas was bogusly promoted as representing the epitome of Madison Avenue inspired sophistication.

Whereas Lyman and Denny sported gaudy Hawaiian shirts and garlands of tropical flowers artists like Herbie Mann attired themselves in Ivy League suits and goatees. To compound the sham, album sleeves such as that of the African Suite were adorned with half-naked dancers. Personally, I never fully comprehended how Herbie Mann's weedy sounding flute once proved so popular!
