Dunno if it's still the case, but at one time it seemed that practically every radio station on mainland Europe and Scandinavia regularly taped almost every visiting American musician who had a pulse. Here is a previously unheard live representation of Silver's 1977 line-up drawing on material drawn from In Pursuit of the 27th Man (1972), Silver ‘n Brass (1975), and Silver ‘n Voices (1976), leaving only ‘Song For My Father’, which harks back to his mid-1960s glory days. That said, though this was Silver's cosmic era, his compositions still followed the curvature of his much earlier trend-setting Blue Note recordings as did the retention of a trumpet/tenor sax front line. Of this the seasoned Larry Schneider (Bill Evans) proves himself to be a gruff hard-bopper, constantly tuned to attack mode, while another long standing member of Silver's group, trumpeter Tom Harrell was still honing an approach which would later come to fruition in a quintet fronted by Phil Woods.
