Like some of the other recordings from this first European tour, the sound quality isn't that of the original broadcast but as taken down off-air (and probably recopied a few times before being first issued in 1987) so, thankfully, the initial distortion wears off after a while. These two sets from the same evening have a very similar programme of ‘Blue Train’, ‘I Want To Talk About You’ and ‘My Favorite Things’, with ‘Impressions’ also included in the first set. Dolphy isn't heard on ‘I Want’ and for some reason also lays out on the first ‘Favorite’, causing a longer and quite fascinating solo from Trane. Otherwise, things are much the same as in England earlier the same week (opposite Gillespie's quintet) and, if you're a completist, it's claimed that this material isn't available on other current reissues (one listed as doing so being apparently miscredited). Memo to the Andorran production team: John Tynan, always cited for his anti-Coltrane and Dolphy comments, was not English but based in Los Angeles.
