Cole, a Leeds-based pianist-composer best known for her Metamorphic ensemble, is in introverted mood nearly all the way through these two CDs of sparsely meditative, sombre solo piano vignettes. It features her arrangements of pieces by UK jazz faces that include Jason Yarde, Corey Mwamba, Nikki Iles and Robert Mitchell, while the second CD has her own mix of improv, poetry and composition.
