Fornasiri’s vox have gloomed over several RareNoise outings, notably the bonkers Berserk. This however is his individual debut, part of a multimedia project which also includes an online comic. Sounds familiar? Neil Cowley’s Spacebound Apes had a similar mind control, hell-on-earth theme, replete with online graphic novel. Fornasiri however doesn’t share Cowley’s quirky delicacies but draws instead on dark rock traditions, notably Floyd’s The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon. The cosmic maelstroms of Magma are also summoned. If your satanic desire is to thrash around in big noise mayhem while hollering ‘fuck’ a lot, it helps to have Motorpsycho’s drummer and keys guy on board, while the lary guitar of Eivind Aarset is always good for scaring the neighbours. It’s all as miserably mashed up (and as predictably gothic) as you might imagine, with only Molvær’s airy lyricism there to occasionally leaven the load.
