A glance at that personnel listing tells you this is a leftover from the Christmas market and, discographically, it's a nightmare that hardly merits unravelling beyond the scant details in its booklet. The singles in question are from a variety of labels, American and European, including items that were excerpted from albums and film soundtracks; and – while many but not all of the B-sides are omitted – in the case of High Society's ‘Now You Has Jazz’, the Bing Crosby verse left off the original single is now restored to LP length.
The actual music varies wildly from reasonably representative of Armstrong in this period to some of the more extraordinary examples of him pandering to management's expectations – Danish folkies Nina & Fredrik? Or Gabriele, Germany's answer to Shirley Temple? Many of these aberrations consist of a lone track, but then so does Louis’ utterly magnificent contribution to the version of Ellington's ‘Battle Royal’ from the Paris Blues soundtrack.
As to who this compilation is aimed at, go figure.
