Recorded at 10 different European venues over a five-year period and released as a 2CD digipak and 3LP set, this first live album from the jazz/pop singer-songwriter sees Gardot and her touring band – sax player Irwin Hall, bassist Sami Minaie and drummer Charles Staab – reworking hits such as ‘Baby I’m A Fool' (two versions, the first recorded at the Wiener Stadthalle, the second at the London Palladium), ‘My One And Only Thrill’ and ‘Les Etoiles’. There are moments of expressive interest dotted throughout the album – Shareef Clayton's blazing trumpet solo in the Gardot/Jessie Harris-penned ‘Goodbye’, Hall's strident two-sax solo à la Roland Kirk in ‘March For Mingus’, Gardot's incantatory vocal introduction to the rollicking ‘Who Will Comfort Me’ – but on songs such as ‘Our Love Is Easy’, ‘Deep Within The Corners Of My Mind’ and ‘Lisboa’, Gardot's sotto voce susurrations are understated to the point of being devoid of any real dramatic tension.
