Nina goes to Nashville, and the results are an already classic sounding album of 13 originals, all but three penned with fellow Aussie singer-songwriter Sam Hawksley (who also produces). I honestly can't recall the last time I heard an album in which every song sounds like a potential single. Recorded in June last year following an intensive 16-day songwriting blitz, the album draws freely from pop, jazz, blues and soul. From the uplifting album opener ‘To Get To My Heart’ and the dramatic tableaux of ‘All In The Name Of God’, to the touching duet with Jedd Hughes on ‘Look Speak Fall’ and the ridiculously catchy ‘I Never Wanted’, Nina has never sounded in finer voice – unfailingly beautiful in tone and absolutely flawless intonation. Any budding singer-songwriters out there really ought to snap this up to see just how it's done. As you might expect from a bunch of Nashville's finest session players, the musicianship is flawless. Great backing vocals too, courtesy of Nina, Sam and Jeanne Petersen.
