The fourth outing from the ever captivating Meier/Oxley axis. The format is familiar, featuring their quartet, but now augmented with Keith Fairbairn's percussion. The latter's contribution is striking on the likes of ‘The Gift’, a classic Oxley song, introspective, thoughtful but never over earnest which is lightened and shifted by Fairbairn. In contrast to ‘The Gift’'s jazz intonations, ‘Our Homeland’ forefronts Meier's fascination with Turkish flavours, though this release is not as rich with them as his solo work. Meier embraces the glissentar on ‘The Gift’, with the fascination each guitar man has for all things stringed evident as ever. Oxley graces the lyrical Autumn Enters' (the distaff to ‘Autumn Leaves’, presumably) with sitar guitar, while steel, slide and, rare on this release, electric guitars combine on ‘September Song’. But it's the elegant use of nylon that the pair excel in, notably on the entwining solos of ‘The Key of Klimt’.
