Here's a dose of goodtime Friday night music that should have you dancing in the aisles. Producer Siggi Loch's relationship with York goes back five decades to when Loch was a producer to the Spencer Davis Group, and the whole shebang smacks of one big party for old pals. Loch has teamed veteran York with a gaggle of stellar youth. Goods for example is Freddie Green one moment, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson the next, while Kissenbeck's Hammond crunches on a splendid ‘Splanky’. But it's Bolla's smeary, blues-rich tenor that stands out, sparking up ‘Broadway’, or balladic on ‘Shiney Stockings’. York, though, won't be outdone by the tyros and has a bonkers break on ‘Lester Leaps In’. It's the upbeat jump stuff that the band warm to most, like ‘Woodside’. You may wish to draw a veil over the vocals (it's York's party and he'll sing if he wants to) but if you're looking for the good times to roll, why not start here?
