Volume 32 in this series coughs up two tracks apiece from Shihab and Farmer plus three from Jordan, all backed by pianist Klaus Koenig’s Jazz Live Trio and proves to be a less than ideal compilation. It appears that these brief fragmented segments were harvested from more lengthier performances as both the Shihab and Farmer contributions clock in at around 15-minutes each whereas Jordan’s three tracks are much longer. Shihab comes up with a speeded up ramshackle take on Monk’s ‘Well You Needn’t’, and the ever-sprightly Art Farmer delivers well-constructed interpretations of Duke’s ‘In A Sentimental Mood’ prior to a zesty ‘Oleo’. Finally, Jordan offers up two originals before playing it safe with an over-extended ‘Bag’s Groove’.
