More good news for fans of ‘The Divine One’. Hot on the heels of last year's exceptional Live At Rosy's, released on Resonance Records, is another previously unreleased live recording featuring Vaughan in the company of pianist Johnny Veith, bassist Gus Mancuso and drummer Eddy Pucci. Recorded on 9 November 1969 at the Philharmonie, Berlin, the album is kick-started by an adrenalised reading of ‘Just One Of Those Things’. Taking ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ at her favoured, extremely slow, ballad tempo and stretching out the melodic line with singing of quite startling power, Vaughan transforms a song which is usually cheerily brisk into something much more bittersweet. ‘Time After Time’ is similarly virtuosic, with Vaughan soaring into her upper register then glissandoing down to the very bottom of her range. Returning to the breakneck tempo of the opener, ‘Zing Zing Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart’ features some breathtaking interplay between Vaughan and Veith, while a remarkable take on ‘What Now My Love’ is delivered with an almost molten intensity.
