Three CDs for under £10 looks a bargain, but the first is an amalgam of LP anthologies, and the latter two a hotchpotch of Bechet’s European years, so amid some good music, his Bluebird and Blue Note highlights are largely absent. Go instead for the Proper box, still streamable for a similar price.
