Never mind the music, I can well imagine heated solicitor's letters being hastily expressed by Universal Records to the audacious operators calling themselves Riverside Jazz. As to the actual recording, Getz and Jordan's bass are well to the fore, while piano and drums often lurk somewhere at the back of the Harlem club near the bar. They are momentarily beefed up for a trio romp through Gerry Mulligan's ‘Catch As Catch Can’ which give some indication as to why pianist Johansson – who would tragically die in an auto crash at the age of 37 – was a local hero. Elsewhere, Getz often appears more subdued than usual but supplies interesting readings of ‘Summertime’ and Ahmad Jamal's ‘A New Rhumba.’ Not essential.
