Dutch flautist Chris Hinze made a name for himself in the early 1970s with light jazz interpretations of both classical and easy listening tunes but, by the middle of the decade, he was fully committed to fiery fusion with complex, multi-part compositions positioned firmly on the prog continuum. This particular configuration of his ever-changing Combination boasted some serious transatlantic talent including Dutch keyboardist Jasper Van 't Hof and Belgian guitarist Philip Catherine from jazz-rock outfit Pork Pie, and the heavyweight American fusion rhythm section of bassist John Lee, who later joined Larry Coryell's 11th House, and drummer Gerry Brown, who also worked with Return To Forever – as hinted at here by the furious latin banger ‘Unity’. Lee wields a monstrously thick and funky tone throughout, providing a rock-solid anchor for the ethereal lightness of Hinze's flute solos and sweet unison statements with Henny Vonk's wordless vocals, reminiscent of Flora Purim.
