The Modern Jazz Disciples! Who they? Er, three cats from Cincinnati, another from Kentucky and an Irish drummer looking to crack the big time. It's a tough ol’ world and after taping two LPs for Prestige subsidiary New Jazz promptly disappeared. Only Curtis Peagler appeared to have hung around, rockin’ up in the sax sections of Count Basie and Ray Charles road bands. More than just competent, these hard boppers may have had the motivation, but unfortunately in a crowded arena The Disciples didn't posses those extra ingredients or a brilliant repertoire to set them apart from stiff competition.
