Released to mark the 40th anniversary of the formation of Mahavishnu, this indispensable five CD set includes Inner Mounting Flame, Birds of Fire, The Lost Trident Sessions and Between Nothingness and Eternity. It also includes a bonus CD of the remaining, previously unreleased, material from the Central Park concert from which Between Nothingness and Eternity was taken, in superb sound quality, plus an extended live version of ‘Noonward Race’ recorded in 1972 at Mar y Sol, a rock festival held in Puerto Rico. If the bonus material was not reason enough for purchasing this set, then the sound on Between Nothingness and Eternity has been brought up to scratch to the extent it is almost like listening to a different album, and the sound on the remaining CDs appears to have been improved by digital transfer (according to a rough and ready vinyl/digital comparison).
