Wild Card and their amenable, danceable, brassy funk are driven largely by Regert's spicy guitar and held safe in Alloway's reliable rhythms, Wild Card wisely don't overstretch themselves, keeping the mood fresh and targeted squarely at moving those hips. They've also called in quality guests that have regularly pumped up their live shows. The horn trio, with credits from Quincy Jones to Snarky Puppy, can funk it out or lay down a sensual groove, as on the smoochsome ‘Manic Phase’. Flowers' horn illuminates the ballady ‘Heartbeat’, while Williams keeps the energy up but the fever down on the evergreen ‘Feeling Good’. B'loon's French rap stylings are another bonus, notably on the break down to the title track. Mix in that the band are confident enough to record with a ‘live in the studio’ vibe, with virtually no overdubs, and Organic Riot will augment the soundtrack of your summer.
