Despite his name, Bob Wolfman is a clean-cut lad with a country-rock-jazz guitar style, a light, high-pitched voice and a bookful of original songs united by the device of taking one phrase though different keys, Michel Legrand-style, but without the elegance.
Pianist Argenti is flashy but hit-and-miss, so producer Larry Coryell supplies whatever jazz interest is here, though too often he is tempted to stamp on the grunge pedal and burn a few bars of Jimi Hendrix. The arrangements are well rehearsed and tightly played over a starry rhythm section punching out neat latin beats, but this curious potpourri package is unlikely to detain many readers of Jazzwise.
